Mission Memorial Hospital Emergency Department: (604) 826-6261
For people experiencing a mental health crisis who may need to be admitted to the hospital in Abbotsford or Mission, and do not have immediate access to a family doctor or psychiatrist. It often requires a long wait before you may be admitted to hospital, but they will give you an assessment on how best to support you in your psychiatric crisis.
Psychiatric Unit - MSA General Hospital: (604) 854-2113
Provides beds and treatment in the hospital specifically for people experiencing acute psychiatric problems. You can be referred to the Psychiatric Unit by your family doctor or by a psychiatrist. Some people go through the hospital’s emergency department and are assessed to be in need of further hospital care. Some people who are thought to be in need of protection for themselves and others may be "involuntarily" admitted to hospital. In that case, the Mental Health Act requires agreement of two doctors who have examined you. This means that you have no choice about whether you are admitted to hospital.
